31 Dec 2025 - I hope that you were able to remain in a warm spot this morning.  Work is the only thing that could compel me to crouch on my personal screened porch and freeze my ears and paws.  After an interloper check I quickly returned inside to thaw.  Despite putting in an appearance, Mr. Sol has been utterly outdone.  I am now trying to convince myself that these frigid temperatures will keep everyone, the good and the bad, tucked at home (so that I can curtail for now these exterior patrols).

30 Dec 2025 - I do like the variety of my job:  no two days are exactly the same.  Depending upon what I smell or see or hear, I follow the clues to wherever they lead.  These interlopers stretch my mind and my body, keeping me lithe and sharp.  A day spent upon a cushion sounds perfect, but after a needed nap I would quickly grow bored and long for a worthy chase:  the eternal battle of the good gato versus the bad.

29 Dec 2025 - Every few days, after our breakfast, the shorter peep exits the back portal and is gone who knows where and for sufficiently long that I wonder if she has lost her way home.  But then I hear noise and in she comes, without explanation, sliding into what remains of our morning routine.  During her absence I occupy myself with work and recheck my saucer to see if manna has been delivered from Bastet (I can hope)... and I wait, a common theme in my life (you would think that I'd get better at it).

28 Dec 2025 - The shorter peep takes lots of photographs of my napping, but that is a small part of the picture.  In between breaks, I am on my feet, walking the beat, alert to any noise or movement.  The world one sees from a favorite chair might be comforting, could seem representative, but so much more is going on beyond the immediacy of one's senses.  Besides, the view from that favorite chair can quickly grow stale:  unpredictable and messy life is waiting to be explored.

27 Dec 2025 - Although temperatures aren't as toasty as I'd like, conditions are tolerable for me to spend work breaks lounging on my personal screened porch.  Even while sprawled on a handy piece of furniture, I can survey the northern front and watch the beeps fly in and out of nearby bushes.  They and leeps are the expected interlopers along this edge of our domicile... not much threat, but even so must be watched.  Every now and then you get one with smart ideas.

26 Dec 2025 - I'm still catching up on missed sleep, but at least last night I didn't detect any domicile visitors overhead.  Both of my peeps have recently put in appearances at the office, so of course I have donned my manager hat, metaphorically speaking.  I am detecting a more relaxed atmosphere here at home:  whatever was prompting stress in my two has eased, and I am hoping we'll return to the familiar routine soon... maybe these changes to the domicile decor will even be undone?  (though I'm starting to get used to them)

25 Dec 2025 - Pardon my nap, but my night was disturbed by faint pawing sounds on the roof.  There was insufficient moonlight to see the cause, so it is entirely possible that I was imagining interlopers alighting on our domicile.  My two peeps didn't seem to notice the noise, however their hearing isn't as keen as mine.  This morning's ritual was also topsy-turvy, with the taller peep arising before his usual hour and joining the shorter one at the breakfast table.  Is it any wonder that I'm a tad skittish today, and in need of soothing head pats (maybe even some eggnog)?

24 Dec 2025 - You may be on holiday, but I am still at work, protecting our domicile.  Fortunately I enjoy what I do, and since I am my own boss any stress experienced is self-inflicted... and assuaged by the occasional nap.  Naturally I don't like being outsmarted by those pesky interlopers, so I have to outthink them and stay one step ahead.  Plus it is very satisfying to bait a trap and lie in wait... maybe akin to that felt by a small peep who has put out cookies for the man in the red suit.

23 Dec 2025 - I am not always a sober tuxedo.  There are rare moments when the sillies overtake me, and I zoom about with tail raised in a question mark (as if to ask, "what ARE you doing?").  Other times I practice roll-overs... the world does look different when you're upside-down.  These kitten behaviors would be squelched if the reasonable part of me had a say... but where is the harm if the interlopers are momentarily at bay and no alien peeps have been detected?  I suppose moderation in all things is too predictable and needs the occasional veto.

22 Dec 2025 - It is hard to be hidden AND keep an eye on things.  I am not too stressed about it, as the onlooker is just the shorter peep.  Were I hunkered down on my personal screened porch, I would take more care.  But here I'm hoping for a bit of skedaddling activity, where she says something resembling "boo" and I bolt for the next secret spot.  I find exercise boring if there isn't some fun mixed in... not that my line of work is sedentary.  The number of steps I take in a day's time (and do I double it because I have two sets of limbs?) is beyond a cat's ability to count.

21 Dec 2025 - What could be better than a pool of sunshine?  And how fortunate to be the wearer of a black coat to soak up all that warmth!  I do occasionally denigrate Mr. Sol's inadequate attention to his job, but today his efforts are much appreciated.  I have never observed either of my two peeps sun-basking... and I am not sure why, as they often grouse about the chill (while donning another layer of clothing).  Clearly there is sufficient room for at least one of them to stretch out alongside me.

29 Dec 2025 - The shorter peep has asked me to guard these boxes, and I can't refuse her request (she does feed me)... and what is one more responsibility to the fella that keeps the domicile safe from interlopers?  At least they are not ambulatory and are tucked beneath a favorite resting spot, so I can't reasonably deem the task a burden.  Besides my two appear unusually busy (just not in the office) of late, which makes my help needed and appreciated... maybe I'll get a few extra treats.

19 Dec 2025 - I really have to work to get my paws dirty as there are very few places in our domicile where the earth can be touched.  I see lots of ground from the many portals, but access is limited to this potted plant.  Sometimes, not often, I get the urge to chew something green (who knows what that's about?   and a peep shirt most certainly doesn't satisfy the yen).  Any salad bar would offer more variety, but here the pickings are restricted to two items... at least they are fresh and available (and not crowded).
