all my joy

Shamus on view

Me-usings and Me-emories

3 December 2020 - I didn't know Hap Kliban, or closer to home, Don Nedobeck, but both of these peeps understood the feline form.  Their drawings capture our sleek lines and undulating curves.  If they didn't coin the phrase "fat cat", they certainly visualized the image.  And of course those two words don't just suggest the state of being "well fed" but also our confidence in bearing and being.  Even now, almost six months after moving into this household, I have my skittish moments... but at the core of every feline, waiting to be expressed, is a pride (how apt a collective noun) in who we are and in our divine lineage.  I remind myself that the descendent of Bastet shouldn't hide under the bed - unless it is part of the greater plan (of which I am told very little).  Even among cats there is a hierarchy, and I am fairly low on the scratching pole.
