there's been a mix-up

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

14 January 2015 - I returned to yesterday's new nap spot, only to discover that things have changed.  Yeah, yeah, I know that nothing stays the same, but I mean really changed.  The chosen sofa pillow, the one that was in the most inviting spot, has fallen over or, if I dare suspect peep involvement, been moved.  How can I get any rest with such a disturbance in my universe?  But I don't do despair, so I will retrench in a formerly favored spot and wait.  It is possible that order will be restored, and I will have the final lay, er, say.

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 January 2015 - We cats are aware of the peeps' bifurcation of the world into rights and wrongs, but that they expect us to agree with, and conform to, their eeny-meeny results can be trying at times.  This morning I decided to move myself into the living room for a post-breakfast lie-down, and I quickly was informed of my poor choice.  Was the offense that I chose an a.m. hour for my nap?  I have often seen the taller peep sleeping here, but in truth never this early in the day.  The unfairness of my ouster has been registered, and another time, when I am again ready to test the limits, I will try this spot for my after-lunch siesta.  Surely justice will be impartial?

10 January 2015 - Some of you are not happy unless on the move, always wondering what lies beyond.  A tumbleweed life is not for me.  The New World would have remained undiscovered had I been entrusted with the Santa Maria, and there are those today who rue that I was not its captain.  Monotony is a comfortable state for us home bodies as we possess the ability to perceive, and appreciate, the nuances of sameness.  The only connection I wish to make with Ayers Rock is to impersonate it, and the picture to the right is the closest I will ever come to sailing upon the Red Sea.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

9 January 2015 - The cold weather has actually helped keep my hide intact: for the past two nights our domicile has been assailed by violent visitors.  The first one merely invaded the back porch and yowled sufficiently loudly to wake the taller peep...and that takes some doing.  When I chose not to confront the bad-mannered beast he departed, no doubt to harass some other neighbor.  Last night we were not disturbed, but arose to discover the bird feeder molested.  What sort of creature could bend a metal rod to the ground and tear open a feeder...just to consume a handful of sunflower seeds?  As I said, these nippy temperatures have saved my hide, because I much prefer snoozing in a warm bed to a confrontation out there in the cold.

7 January 2015 - Aaah, there is nothing like being back in your own bed.  I barely had time to get my temporary spot warm (see 6 January 2015 blog), and we were once again on the road.  I didn't realize how fatigued I was from the travel and the travails, until I slept most of that first day at home.  The peep whose comforter I borrowed was nice enough (and in a way reminded me of the shorter peep), but there is no equal to my very own place.  I do hope that this recent adventure will satisfy my peeps' wanderlust for a goodly time...at least until I've caught up on my beauty rest.

6 January 2015 - Survival depends upon one's ability to adapt, so given we have been hanging out at this different abode for a goodly while, I have made myself at home...more precisely I have selected a place to sleep.  One really is not at the top of one's game if one isn't well rested, so it was a high priority to determine where I could snooze undisturbed.  This particular house seems to have lots of folks coming and going, which means that "off the beaten path" was important to me.  A distant-second concern was comfort, and this spot certainly satisfies that requirement.  If we are still resident after the alpha and beta testing, I will let you know the verdict.

bring in the new

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

1 January 2015 - I was eavesdropping on a recent peep conversation, and I am certain that I heard something about a new ear.  I would know if such a thing had been given to me, so I am assuming that one of the peeps is the recipient.  Neither looks any different, and the taller peep certainly doesn't hear any better than yesterday, so I don't know what to make of this information.  Perhaps it is in transit, and will be arriving soon?  We cats are curious creatures, and I am quite tantalized by the prospect.  I confess that I secretly desire tufted ears, like my distant relative, the bobcat, and I think that the shorter peep would look very sharp with the Vulcan model...but only if she has a matching pair.
