to his team gave a whistle

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

15 December 2015 - My buddy and I could be an odd casting of Rocky and Bullwinkle.  He is even more taciturn than I, turning his head away when I asked if he was the one on the roof yesterday.  Probably not...he seems very attached to this spot, and it has a good view and lots of natural light, so I completely understand.  The jingle bell earrings are a surprising assessory, but they would drive me into a tizzy...I am not even fond of collars...just a lay(-about) sort of guy.  I hope that he didn't filch the red mittens from you-know-who.

there arose such a clatter

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

14 December 2015 - I know very well that something is moving about on the roof.  "Prancing and pawing?"  I would not describe the sound in those words...more like scritching.  The shorter peep gave no reaction, so she probably can't hear such subtleties...but she has other strengths.  Since one of my jobs is to safeguard the perimeter, I am unsettled as long as it remains out there, unseen but suspected.  An assault on one's domicile is nothing to ignore.  In these high-alert times, any unexpected trespasser should beware.  For his sake I hope that the red-suited fellow is wearing Kevlar.

a fairytale, they say

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 December 2015 - Did this thing beam down?  December is such a weird month, I swear that anything can and will happen.  Every time I enter a familiar room, I wonder  if I will recognize it.  The shorter peep should be analyzed, since I suspect that she is behind all these alien appearances.  But everyone here at the abode continues to flash smiles my way, so perhaps I should relax and enjoy the unknowability of how her mind works.  Maybe there really is magic in old silk hats?

boughs of jolly

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

12 December 2015 - Anyone with a functioning nose would immediately know that this greenery is fake (and a hard look would as well discern the artificial needles).  At least the shorter peep didn't drape the garland on top of my perch...she probably knew better.  I don't regularly sit on this railing, but I don't care to be banned from doing something that I might want to do.  This arrangement means that nothing need be knocked on the floor to make my point.  It is very liberating to be off Santa's radar screen.

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 December 2015 - The view from my pallet keeps changing.  I am not sure what the shorter peep is up to...something about my not cooperating?  That she would say that pricks my feelings as I think of myself as a very easy-going, agreeable sort.  But it is the season to overlook slights, so I'll not give it further thought.  I do wonder, however, at the current choice of decor.  When one lives in Florida, enjoying a balmy December, I guess there is irony in displaying replicas of snow people.  They look so merry, but I know it is all an act.  There is no jolly fun in being frozen stiff.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

8 December 2015 - I have no recollection of sugar plums dancing in my head, but it is still possible that I dream.  My peeps enjoy pointing out that occasionally, while asleep, my paws and whiskers will twitch.  All I can say in response is at least I don't drool on my pillow while napping.  There is scientific evidence, based on our brain wave patterns, that supports the claim that indeed we cats experience REM, just as peeps do.  It is in this stage of sleep that peep dreams occur, so probably I am revisiting my day while snoozing.  But what would Freud make of three blind meeps as a recurring motif?

7 December 2015 - Cranberry red is my color, don't you think?  I am amenable to sitting on a prop, to posing in front of a prop...just don't ask me to wear a Santa hat or reindeer antlers or a package bow.  I may look like a softy, but it would be a mistake to think that I am a pushover.  The only thing standing between agreeable and disagreeable might be a short fuse.  So don't spoil the moment.  Everyone likes to hear how good he/she looks.
