still there was you

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 January 2016 - I apologize for my irregular hours.  The new year has been slow to settle, and the ensuing turbulence kept me busy with other things...not to say more important things...but things that demanded pronto attention.  Anyway my hope is that I am now above the fray, with time to reflect.  And the first thing that springs to mind is the desire to see more of the sun...a bright pool of warmth would be very appreciated.  If you are unaware, cats don't do resolutions, rather we issue a list of shortcomings that should be addressed.

7 January 2016 - My friends know that I draw the line at wearing clothes.  In this photo I admit to being wrapped in a jacket (and the temperatures warranted such coziness), but that is totally, and technically, different...at least in my mind.  The shorter peep was the instigator:  she was the one with the jacket, she was the one who kindly offered her lap.  I'm a nice fellow, so I accepted...so sue me.

6 January 2016 -  We seem to have an escapee from the Christmas closet!  Or maybe it eluded the New Year's Day round-up??  Whatever the case I will try to keep it pinned down until the shorter peep arrives.  After more than a decade with my peeps, I can say without exaggeration that I am the most observant.  Details are my forte...follow-through is someone else's job.

5 January 2016 - What is it about this time of year that brings out the piles of papers?  I dare not sit still very long lest I become buried.  Having to navigate around and over these shifting surfaces is bad enough.  The shorter peep has been spending much time trying to organize and minimize the clutter, and looking about our domicile I believe that the volume of mess is dwindling, albeit slowly. So far she is ignoring my suggestion to pitch all of it in the trash can.  For my sake I do hope that the end is in sight, as I haven't been brushed in days.

lost in thought

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

4 January 2016 - The first few days after our return home, I was very disoriented upon awakening.  Have you ever experienced that feeling of not knowing where you are?  While still groggy with sleep, I scan the unfamiliar surroundings, expecting to see a window where there isn't one, an alarm clock on the right that is on the left, etcetera.  The impressions from my holiday location were no doubt doubly seared into my gray matter due to the presence of a hostile host...and the resultant agitation still lingers.  Gradually I am settling in and settling down.  At least the former lodging offered a pillow-top mattress.

3 January 2016 - Within my species there are true lap cats, the sort that resemble a ten-pound bean bag and seldom call upon their legs for support or transportation.  Then there is the larger category, in which I fall, of when-it-suits-us.  Those of you who know me are aware of my dislike of the cold, so the main factor that compels me to curl up on a peep is suboptimal weather.  We may be back in Florida, but evidently we left behind those warmer temperatures.

2 January 2016 - Peeps like to contemplate the stretch of time before them, especially when the calendar turns to a new year... formulating new plans, making wishful promises, feeling the possibilities of a fresh start.  But the truth of the matter is that this virgin expanse of days is an allusion that many participate in.  I admit that the possession of nine lives makes my future less scary, less concerning, freeing me to enjoy now.  It is a gift I would like to wrap with a red bow.
