poke me, man

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

11 December 2016 - I don't request that you remove your shoes, but any bags brought into our house could be subject to inspection... especially if I smell something inter-, er, suspicious.  And any package deemed unsafe will be forfeited.  I probably won't explode the contents, but I might shred the wrapping and chew on any bow.  Any complaints should be submitted to my supervisor in triplicate, and we will duly record its receipt in file 13.

I beg your purrdon

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 December 2016 - There is a crackle in the air that threatens to electrify my fur.  It arced from the peeps' fingers to me.  I can't fully explain the cause, but it definitely is tied to the calendar and the final month of the year.  Surely they realize that time will continue on, with or without a paper trail.  Nonetheless, packages are arriving and glitter is being strewn and the shorter peep is seldom still.  This latter point is the most annoying to me:  how am I to get warm without a lap that lasts more than fifteen minutes?

9 December 2016 - The end of the year is an exhausting time:  decorating, cooking, cleaning, shopping, traveling.  I don't personally get involved in any of these activities, but merely watching my peeps zip around makes my eyelids grow heavy.  To remain outside the fray I must pick my nap site carefully... otherwise they might sweep me up in their frenzy.  Atop these bed pillows is usually a safe spot to plop down and often offers a patch of sunlight as well as a view of the back yard (in case the interloper saunters by).  If only it was a heated seat.... Santa, are you listening?

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

8 December 2016 - The concept of time is very loose for me, but isn't it early to be hearing prancing and pawing on the roof?  With a continual rain of acorns and an occasional limb hitting our house (and a rare screeching of a squirrel sliding down the metal), I mostly ignore these sounds... until something strikes me as out of the ordinary.  Since I am in charge of perimeter defense, I can't loll on my haunches until we are breached.  I hope that I figure it out soon, as my hyper alertness is cutting into my nap time.

Me-usings and Me-emories

6 December 2016 - Where's my food??  Sometimes I think the shorter peep gets her priorities mixed up.  Lately she has been spending lots of time in the kitchen, yet nothing has changed in my kibble bowl.  I will grant that treats are presented to me several times daily, but I could acquire a grey muzzle waiting.  Just to provide her a visual cue I am now hanging out in the dining room:  I certainly don't want to be "out of sight, out of mind"... and her memory needs all the help it can get.

Me-usings and Me-emories

5 December 2016 - Do you think that there would be any support for a "casual Monday" movement?  It is enough of a jolt to return to the grind, so in order to ease one's carcass back into the work routine, why not "let it all hang out"?  We cats can't be guilted or otherwise swayed by outside opinion, so showing up with bad hair gives us no concern.  Our self-esteem is above such mundane considerations as "what will others think?"  And if my peeps get too cheeky, I have various photos that will blackmail them into silence.

3  December 2016 - I was slightly worried when the smaller peep began to pull out boxes two days ago (never a good sign).  But then she started draping greenery and hanging dangly things… and then I remembered:  she has done this sort of thing before, and, oh yeah, I am not supposed to bat the tempting janglies around (at least not when she is looking).  I haven't altogether deduced why she does all this extra work (our domicile looked fine before), but since the activity doesn't negatively impact me, I am cool with it.  I learned long ago that trying to understand the doings of peeps is not worth the effort, and who is to say if my conclusion is correct?
