seeing double

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

7 January 2017 - I am keeping an eye on my doppelganger.  I learned as a kitten that there are magical windows, seeming portals into another space populated by familiar creatures.  Of course it is all an illusion, but sometimes I have to confirm the falseness of what I behold by touching its hard surface.  And turning my back on this other cat still doesn't seem like a wise choice.  Most of the time I just try to ignore the parallel universe and its poor imitation.

dashing through the snow.... not

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

6 January 2017 - My mission:  to go where no cat has gone before.  Alright, I exaggerate, and there are pictures "out there" that document that even I have been here before.  But no matter, it is the attitude that counts:  to see the world afresh, to face the possibilities, to dare... not bad for a vet-calls-me-geriatric cat.  I admit that some moments I am more rambunctious than others, but who can that not be said of?  My healthy sleep habits are certainly a large part of my occasional vigor.

winter bluster

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

5 January 2017 - No, I am not levitating... but would I tell you if I could?  To swagger is IMO a symptom of low self-esteem, and everyone who is anyone knows that cats do not suffer from that affliction.  Besides, why should we be interested in impressing peeps?  They as a species outrank most in braggadocio.  I at times have had to hide behind a Cheshire grin to refrain from guffawing at their antics.  If you don't take them seriously, peeps can be a great source of amusement.

would you mind repeating that?

Me-usings and Me-emories

4 January 2017 - Even one who keeps company with dim-deeps knows what I am asking.  The context and my imploring look communicate quite well my needs, despite our language barrier.  How puzzling that creatures from the same species can be so clueless as to what is being said.  A misinterpretation of written text is more understandable, since there is no facial expression to suggest seriousness or humor.  But how can the spoken word lead to the wrong idea?  One doesn't have to agree with what is being said, but one should nevertheless grasp it.  Perhaps, unlike mine, the ears are not attuned.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

2 January 2017 - I have started the new year as I would hope to spend the remaining days:  in quiet contemplation.  The entire world seems to be in a state of high anxiety, the very air vibrates with negative emotions.  I am trying to counteract these stressful vibes with my own alpha waves.  I realize that I can't calm the planet, but if I can shield my peeps, that will be enough.  And you wonder why I am exhausted all the time??

what an irk

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

2 January 2017 - It really doesn't pay to leave home.  First, there is the crazed preparation for departure, followed by the actual travel.  I have gone by car and by plane, and both modes have to be endured.  Then the process reverses, as you retrace your steps.  Unpacking the suitcase, stowing the gear, dealing with dirty laundry:  why do my peeps put themselves (and me) through so much stress?  Then I discover that, in my absence, every specimen of my kind has visited our property.  I would swat each and every one if they dared show themselves.  Of course, they would never attempt a coup while I remained at my post.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

1 January 2017 - I am largely outside the passage of time, although I live in a household with its share of clocks and watches and routines and schedules.   In as much as nine lives can seem like forever, I do know that eternity is much longer, and can only be approximated by those long stretches spent waiting for my peeps to do my bidding.  There is a line of thinking that views time as a circle.  I grasp this concept with each vigil outside a window or inside a door.  But beyond my own concerns, I think that infinity depends upon whether or not our egos continue to expand.
