seize who?

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

15 January 2017 - Unless you are the sort to veg out in front of the television, watching whatever sport is in season, Sunday afternoons offer the chance to play and pretend.  Just present an empty box to a cat (or a little peep), and we will entertain ourselves.  Throw in something that rolls or jiggles or squeaks, and we transform into our wild versions, stalking and pouncing and channeling all our big-bad-predator instincts.  Not much of this activity is required to wear me out, and I am ready for a cool-down purr and nap.  The difference is that I earned mine.

faux isn't me

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 January 2017 - I couldn't walk another step:  that is the only reason I can imagine for plopping down on the floor, when a paw's stretch away was a softer and higher spot.  I admit that sometimes I am hard to predict, but I wouldn't want my peeps to replace me with a battery-operated algorithm-driven catbot.  Not that I am feeling insecure in this technology-crazy society.  Nonetheless I will continue to do random acts (not necessarily of kindness), just to keep myself endearing... as if I am not already.

big purrer is watching

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

12 January 2017 - I am an early riser, the difference being that in the course of the morning I arise numerous times.  This east-facing window is a favorite of mine because of its elevation and its extensive view of the yard and driveway.  This ledge puts me on a level with squeep activity and well above harm's way.  From here one can look down upon any who dare approach the front door.  With this information I've known the peeps to fall quiet and pretend to be away from home.  I guess they are too large to fit under the bed.

au naturel

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

11 January 2017 - I am enjoying the current weather trend.  Once again I can loll on the porch without needing to be thawed upon reentry.  That there are those sorts who prefer a "proper" winter in fact delights me.  Otherwise there would be no green space left in our state, and you know how I feel about a crowd.  My thanks to whomever or whatever is responsible for my wild bit of country, for my view of an unmanicured forest, for nature in her uncombed state.  I could do without the presence of ticks and briars, but that may just be the price of planet-earth membership.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 January 2017 - I don't know what all the fuss is about:  weren't these clothes placed here for me to lie on?  The bed is my snooze domain, so if the shorter peep did not want me to claim this spot... which I must point out is significantly higher than my towel on the opposite corner... she should have placed the clothes elsewhere.  Try as I might, I can't read her disorganized thoughts, and I would not want to lose myself in her mobius-strip mind.  Clearly the outcome was in her control, and besides, what is the big deal about a few stray hairs?

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

9 January 2017 - Sprawling on a beach towel is of no appeal to me... unless I am far from the salty air and crashing waves.  The shorter peep agrees with me, and is one of the palest Floridians you will ever encounter.  I don't go so far as boycotting a patch of sunshine (I do like to be warm), and I do enjoy digging in sand... which I can find.in abundance in our yard, so who needs a beach?  Speaking of warm, can you detect a lump beneath my towel?  That is my very own heating pad, to ensure that my feet, chilled by paddling around on bare floors, are toasty as can be.

8 January 2017 - I do hope that you have a friendly lap into which you can crawl.  The sun is just teasing us this morning, with its promise (but no delivery) of warmth.  Were it not for various sources of external heat, I would be wretched indeed.  But enough complaining, "things could be worse", as peeps like to say when hunting for some poor slobs having a rougher time.  Somehow knowing that there are my kind freezing to the north, even gamboling in the white stuff, does not raise my body temperature one degree.  I am looking forward to tomorrow and its promised rebound.
