urbane sprawl

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

17 February 2018 - No worries... I am not threatening, just stretching.  Having not moved for a while (yes, I was napping), my body needed to reach in both directions, all the way through the claws.  I am told by my peeps that I am impressively long when I do this, but mostly the elongation just feels wonderful.  There is a crackling aliveness, when one stretches, that lets one know one is still on the topside of the ground... which is good to know.

15 February 2018 - I suspect we all do things without proper acknowledgement, and most of the time we are satisfied with a job properly done.  But there comes a tipping point... when there are so many slights that the seesaw hits the ground and refuses to level until adjustments are made.  I hope that your set of family and friends doesn't wait until the crash to make amends.  We all positively respond to a "thank you", and we must likewise remember to express gratitude to others.  It goes both ways, just like a set of stairs.

14 February 2018 - Today is the official day for over-the-top emotional expression, at least among peeps.  We cats don't care for chocolate, and have little tolerance for maudlin behavior (or red hearts).  So I am keeping a low profile, out of foot traffic and beyond discourse.  Besides I already feel like a loved member of our family, and don't need that sentiment officially pronounced.  It would be much simpler if everyone felt comfortable in his/her skin.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 February 2018 - Lest you get the wrong impression (and sink into a deep depression), the peeps and I do not live in Paradise.  The weather in these parts is beyond our control, so we must take what we are given.  But the weather inside the house isn't always sunshine cheery either.  What am I talking about?  For one example, just this morning the shorter peep, having finished her breakfast, rises from her chair, buses the table, and exits for the office... totally disregarding my wish to continue the morning meal.  Eventually, I grew tired of waiting for the next course to arrive.  Is she expecting me to sing for my supper?

12 February 2018 - I am not really into gardening, or even flowers.  I have on occasion helped the shorter peep by digging holes in the sand, and I have even done some pruning (munching on foliage leaves):  meh.  The one concession I will make to cultivated flora is that lots of small critters hide there.  It is an unusual day (typically chilly) that I don't observe something skulking in the potted plants.  But they are interlopers all the same, so I send them scurrying for the perimeter.  But they, or their cousins, will be back tomorrow:  my work is never done.

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 February 2018 - Do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?  My senses are hyper-alert, but even so there are times when I am convinced a pair of eyes are following my movement, but I have no luck in locating the body.  So far nothing has come of it, but as a creature that lives by its instincts, I don't dare discredit the sensation.  Perhaps the voyeur is harmless, but it is still creepy.  However I do realize that the interlopers I stalk probably experience this same feeling.... and my innate tendency is not to be benign.

Me-usings and Me-emories

9 February 2018 -I predict that you will be seeing more outdoor shots, me dead-center.  A photographer is challenged to capture feline revelry or delight, so you'll just have to imagine (a good brain exercise) this picture's emotional content:  I am a happy cat.  And I am not the only one.  The beeps are in full chorus (and some of them need more practice as their squawks are quite strident).  I am seeing more and more of them on the premises.  That is alright... they do not pose a threat, at least most of them don't.  The woody-wood beeps for years mistook our house for a tree.
