rough June

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

14 June 2018 - Sometimes one needs to throttle back on the wannas, and follow Nature's suggestions:  this morning I really would like to be snoozing on the front deck, but it is gray and damp out there.  What is the point in getting worked up?  The weather isn't following the preferred script (perhaps extemporizing?), so I am lounging inside for now... with the hopes that eventually conditions will improve.  And if they don't, then they don't.  Meanwhile I am seriously trying to avoid the moniker "sour puss".

13 June 2018 - As others have said, "if you don't like the weather, check back in half an hour."  Could today possibly follow yesterday?  Maybe I pulled a Rip Van Winkle, and slept through the trying-to-make-up-its-mind interim.  But not that I'm ungrateful... I think today's conditions far superior to many recent days... which is why I greeted the morning, first thing, and streamed my thanks to Mother Nature.  (I want to keep her happy.)

12 June 2018 - Oh, my... one step forward, two steps back:  that is no way to make progress!  The morning began "bracingly" (i.e., way too chilly for my comfort level), and the sun has managed to lift somewhat the thermometer mercury... but what is up with this wind!  As you can see, I have given up on salvaging the day... it is an official write-off.  Now I will wait it out, curled in a fetal position, in hopes that tomorrow is more palatable.

my deal

Me-ow-my-oh!

      Me-usings and Me-emories

11 June 2018 - One should be sufficiently self-aware to know when things are good (I won't say "couldn't be better" since for me it is seldom warm enough).  What other cat has governance of a lake-side kingdom?  There are probably other lucky pusses, but that doesn't make my situation any less sweet.  I realize that I kvetch when life isn't perfect, but that is mostly to deflate the stress.  Thanks for letting me vent.

10 June 2018 - The shorter peep tried to capture this morning's sauna specter, but wasn't quick enough!  After pinpointing the source of the odd noises, she waited in the hallway.  Of course I knew what was up (my senses are superior to hers), but what goes in must come out.  I was rather hoping to spring out and surprise her... and perhaps that was the outcome as the result certainly isn't in focus.  Anyway, it was all part of my sentry duty, vigilant in the house as well as in the yard.  You would be surprised where interlopers try to hide... or perhaps you wouldn't.

the squatic life

9 June 2018 - This porch bench has much to recommend it, i.e., sunshine with a bit of elevation and close to the beep/squeep feeder.  Now if the shorter peep would only relocate a cushion here, it would be nigh perfect (could one of you readers put the bug in her ear?).  A few days ago I spotted a hairless creature squatting on an exposed rock below.  It resembled a hoppy thing that we have back in Florida, only on steroids.  The southern version isn't much more than an animated lump, so I don't expect much from this example... although it is proficient at scissor kicks.

8 June 2018 - I am so happy to be outdoors, enjoying the sunshine.  Depending upon one's choice of spot, the wind can still seem cool, but there is no denying the bake-your-bones heat in a sheltered spot with southerly exposure.  Where I am in this picture is the porch facing the lake and the sunrise... which will be very nice later in the summer but is too shaded for my current needs.  But part of my sentry work is checking the house perimeter, so my time wasn't wasted (and I counted two squeeps gourging themselves on beep seeds).  It is good to keep walking, the circulating blood keeps my body temperature up.
