glad brags

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

16 July 2018 - I do love a week that begins with sunshine:  it puts one in such a better mood.  And to be able to spend hours sprawled on a glider cushion, soaking up the fresh air and calming atmosphere... well, it is a scene that is hard to improve upon.  The shorter peep joined me with her cup of tea (I don't understand its charm, but both peeps seem to enjoy this little afternoon ritual), and I and they were quite content (I may even have drooled).  I wish you similar pleasantries.

surprised possession

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

15 July 2018 - It isn't a well-kept secret, but I do have my fire tower, yielding an overview of the front yard and the approach to our domicile.  The odd thing about my lofty perch is the absence of stairs:  I enter at the top and look down upon the world (a natural orientation for us cats).  Shielded from the elements, I can conduct my surveillance without getting wet or ruffled.  I doubt the builder of our house had this particular functionality in mind when he constructed it... but it is hard for egocentric peeps to see beyond their own needs.

"while I pondered, weak and weary"

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

14 July 2018 - Evidently the taller peep and I rose too early today, both of us busy in the wee hours with "stuff" while the shorter peep (now looking like the wise one) slept.  However it is a fine morning for shutting down the body and the mind, with me curled up in the depression left earlier by our resident morning peep.  Clouds and an ocean breeze are not my definition of pleasant weather, and the day took an ominous turn when the wind blew in a trio of funereal black beeps.  No, I'll take my chances here on the sofa.

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 July 2018 - Friday the 13th has not been a problem for me, in fact I may have outdone myself in hours napped.  But when there is lots of sunshine in which to lie, I can't resist.  I would say that I have risen to the challenge, but that would give the wrong impression.  And, to add variety (and a bit of exercise) to my dance card, I have clocked quality time in the office and the living room as well... but neither of those spaces can surpass the sun room, so aptly named.

hard to wallow

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

12 July 2018 - I retract my thanks to the peeps:  this shallow box is NOT comfortable.  Its insides are made of some hard material that won't contour to my body.  After thirty seconds of trying to find something to like about the new bed, I removed myself to the sofa...which is something of a demotion, elevation-wise (and we cats are suckers for the-higher-the-better), but paws down an improvement for sleep.  I thought it important to make my decision known in the presence of my peeps, as I don't want them blindly ordering more of this kind.

risk of reign

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

11 July 2018 - I may not read newspapers or watch the nightly news, but I do keep my ear to the ground.  So I am aware of the vulnerability of one's water supply to acts of sabotage... which means that my patrol includes our well.  Such an act would have minimal impact, since we are its only users (and during just a fraction of the year), and its access is via a no-exit dirt road (although a zodiac assault is not out of the question).  Even so the probability of such a deed is not zero, which means I must be vigilant.  (Honestly I am more concerned that the squeeps might fill it up with acorns.)

original scene

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 July 2018 - My peeps have told me, in admiration I suspect, that cats and hearths go well together.  Just follow us cats if you wish the warmest place in the domicile!  Now that it is safe to go outside for extended periods, is it any wonder that I can be found next to the chiminea?  You would be incorrect to infer that I am waiting for someone to start a fire:  I have noticed that darker surfaces retain heat longer, rather like us mostly-black felines.  Since I am not allowed to play with matches, this aha was quite the discovery (and ingenious, I humbly offer).
