7 Sep 2021 - What to do while waiting for the shorter peep to rise?  If the day begins with promise, I find an eastward view and watch for interlopers while soaking up the sun's rays.  Such was this morning, a much appreciated change from the past several days of greyness.  My concept of quiet has been further refined since our arrival in the hinterland.  Now I would classify my free-for-all galloping through the domicile as "racket" on a par with galumphing... before I wasn't even conscious of the produced sounds.  That doesn't mean that my fun will be curtailed.

6 Sep 2021 - If the photo to the right was a cartoon, there would be squiggly lines rising from the towel.  Why?  Because the shorter peep heated it up for me!  I suppose by local standards (I'm expecting to see Santa Claus saunter by any minute) yesterday wasn't cold, but without Mr. Sol warming the earth it certainly felt that way to me.  Even my peeps are wearing more clothes (which is not a personal option).  In the abode (with a screened porch) the rooms connected so as to allow my running laps.  Here that is not the case, so I have worked out a route that involves skidding around corners and ducking under sofas and beds... more like an obstacle course than a swimming lane.  It's my attempt to keep the heart pumping.

who goes there?

5 Sep 2021 - One if by land, two if by sea?  I am certain there were more than two peeps in that craft that just motored by.  I bet they were doing recon on our abode, with its wash flapping in the north wind.  Even a hard-of-hearing cat would have heard their approach... the interlopers, with all their on-board revelry, did not seem a convincing threat.  But my job is to first pinpoint, then assess... and so I did.  Theirs was our only visitation yesterday, other than the usual assortment of beeps.  I have caught glimpses of a tiny brown creature, often spotted (but with stripes) among the shore boulders.  It is one-tenth my heft, so I am not afraid of a meet-up.

4 Sep 2021 - Is there room for me up there?  Supposedly the third purrsonality makes a crowd, but I don't perceive a problem.  There is plenty of room, in the evening, for the three of us to meet and spend together-time.  And three bodies are warmer than one, so of course I join them.  Plus there is never any doubt, in my mind, that I am welcome.  I have my preferred spots when the sun is beaming down, but otherwise I am open to offers of lap and head pats.  The murmur of their voices is a comforting background for catnaps.  Now that my travel trauma recedes into bad memory, I am finding my old groove and sleeping the sleep of the innocent (it was not me who made the mess).

the home of the brave

3 Sep 2021 - It would appear that I have more "fronts" to watch at this abode, but not as much interloper activity... so my responsibilities take about the same amount of time, with fewer pools of sunshine to distract.  Yesterday was given to beauty rest, as the weather washed out any nefarious attempts to breach our perimeter.  Who would have thought blowing rain could be a cat's ally?  I am still hopeful that one of these portals will give me entry to a screened porch, but so far the domicile's best offering is a glassed-in space that soaks up the sun... that is when the sun is shining.

making a clean break

2 Sep 2021 - We cats have a refined sense of propriety, yet also have no problem with public bathing.  I guess we are simply comfortable in our fur.  That isn't to say that I am comfortable around strange peeps, so only my vetted two are subjected to my regular and meticulous grooming.  But one has to admit that as a result I am a striking example of cathood.  The shorter peep has shown me an apparatus supposedly for cleaning my teeth, issued by the scary white-coat that I have had the displeasure of meeting.  Clearly no cat was consulted on its usefulness.

1 Sep 2021 - The peeps have informed me that today is my official birthday.  Since the actual natal day is unknown, the shorter peep "gave" me the celebrated appearance of one of her family, who today would have been 125 years old.  That makes my accomplishment of two years seem a blip on the time line, but truly we are all fleeting moments.  That doesn't mean that life is mundane, rather some of its amazement is due to its short-but-sweet nature.  I look forward to many more cycles with my two.  As a gift I have requested my screened porch (I have been told to be patient).
