7 Jan 2025 - Since we cats have no use for modesty, I will state for the record that that is one handsome profile.  Much character is suggested in the head tilt, in the cool gaze.  I don't recall exactly what I was feeling at the moment this picture was snapped, but purring might have been the sound track.  Yes, content with my life, confident in the future's trajectory, I hang out with the employees, just one of the gang.  Of course a loud bang on the roof overhead or the ringing of the domicile doorbell can quickly shatter the illusion, and I will be a blur in my peep's eye.

6 Jan 2025 - A cushy perch, even slightly elevated from its surroundings, is hard for a cat to resist.  I walked right past my towel to choose this spot, and it didn't disappoint.  As you know, sometimes, depending on how the mood strikes me, I sleep behind these pillows, other times on the dedicated towel, lots of times in other far-removed spaces.  I am predictable in my frequent nap-taking, but more random in where I bed down... all the better to keep the interlopers guessing.

5 Jan 2025 - I can't say it loudly enough:  I hate cold weather!  Out of necessity I have pinpointed all the spots in our domicile heated by the oracle's breath or by the lackluster (but not extinguished) Mr. Sol.  I think it rather clever of moi to sprinkle these places throughout my guard-duty loop, something to look forward to while I trudge through the chill.  Maybe that feline interloper the other night was seeking warmth, a desire with which I can sympathize... but he needs to keep looking, because this lap is taken.

4 Jan 2024 - Lest you think I possess an overactive imagination in regards the encroachment of interlopers, I have actually had a stare-down (albeit brief) with one of my kind.  There are several neighborhood cats that occasionally sashay through my territory, and one of them is audacious enough to sniff around my personal formerly-screened porch.  He returned last evening, and I am very displeased with the situation.  I am wishing bad things upon him, his mother, and his offspring.

3 Jan 2025 - I have gone from restricted screen porch access to no screen porch access... and I want to know why, and secondly I want to know when this intolerable situation will change.  Communication between my peeps and myself is broad-brush, but I am quite certain that they grasp the fact that I want/need to go our there.  Yet I am left peering through the portal, pacing the inside perimeter.  Other than my general frustration, I am worried that the interlopers will take advantage and claim that unprotected space.  A glare is it for my long-range arsenal weapons.

2 Jan 2025 - And then our household returns to normal!  The notion to reverse the domicile's look has taken hold:  my peeps are removing the novelties and rearranging the furniture... it is my hope that soon the familiar look will greet my eyes.  At least now my favorite ledge for overseeing the domestic scene is free of froufrou, the folderol relegated to a room's back corner.  I would vote for pitching it, just to avoid another remodeling of the abode, to perhaps prevent the return of this seasonal disorder.

the roar of the crowd

1 Jan 2025 - The shorter peep says today is a new day, but isn't everyday?  Her statement is supposed to explain why last evening my ears were assaulted by sharp whizzes and loud booms.  My two didn't react as if our domicile was being stormed, so I tried to remain calm.  My bedtime meal was served without fail, further encouragement that the world was not being blown apart.  Now this morning the neighborhood is quiet, the scene from my eastern portal unchanged from the bombardment.  I will never fathom what possesses the alien peep.
