dreamboat

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

14 July 2013 - According to my peeps, sometimes I dream.  Paws jerk, whiskers twitch.  They also claim that I snore, but on this matter I am certain that they are mistaken.  Possibly I am talking in my sleep, or perhaps in the quiet my purring echoes.  But I do not stint on my beauty rest, as it clearly is working.

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 July 2013 - It is a razor-thin line between relaxed/unaware and tense/alert, and that calm present-in-the-moment state is harder for some than for others.  Those that are most comfortable in a group have relegated this ability to the herd mind.  It is the one on the edge of the activity, observing quietly, who can negotiate the balance beam.

look into my eyes

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

12 July 2013 - Don't get into a staring contest with a cat.  We can hold a gaze far longer than you can hold your breath.  And then, ever so slowly we blink and turn away to behold something of more interest.  You have been summarily dismissed as clearly the lesser, unworthy but tolerated, evidence of our munificence.

chew on this

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

11 July 2013 - The social ties of a family are strengthened by the sharing of food.  Dinner is our time to be together.  Their tastes are not my own, but I enjoy a dish of yogurt while they eat variations of stewed grass.  I have tried munching on the green stuff out in the yard, but unless one needs an emetic I cannot recommend it.

the cat naps

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 July 2013 - Pardon the paraphrase, but sleep does the body good.  And forget that nonsense about afternoon naps being for the very old and very young.  A snooze puts life into proper perspective:  those pressing matters really aren't that important.  Far better to baby the body and coddle the spirit and soothe the mind.  Go ahead, put your feet up...you have my permission to take five...or ten, or whatever.

get the Led out

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

9 July 2013 - Ok, ok, I have warmed up to my environs, I admit it, but this change in attitude probably has something to do with the general warming-up that has been going on since the calendar flipped to July.  I was born in Florida, so I like my temperatures on the toasty side despite my wearing a black fur coat.  This particular photograph is my stairway to heaven, in an Escher sort of way.

cat tales

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

8 July 2013 - I have never had issues with my body image, probably because I don't place much credence in others' opinions.  Anyone who would turn his derriere to the camera is clearly comfortable in his skin.  It is good to be a cat, and I make no apologies.
