Shamus on view

Me-usings and Me-emories

5 Jan 2024 - A cat's sense of smell is truly an asset, but it also can be an annoying distraction.  Imagine this scenario:  I am hiding from the shorter peep, stealthily watching her nearby movement... and then my nose catches a whiff of something interesting and breaks my concentration and spoils my stakeout.  Yes, the sort of annoying one can't control because it is hard-wired.  I am sure that our olfactory abilities served my ancestors well, kept them alive sufficiently long that I could be here.  But "modern times" are a totally different environment, not without hazards certainly, but needing a different sort of strategy.

Spanish of the day - demeowsiado, too much, excessive (even by my standards)

  1. ah yes, the occasional whiff of something oh-so intriguing and unexpected....what could it be? something tracked in by a small interloper? or on the shoe of your peep? aliens? there are so many possibilities that need to be investigated!!
