30 Sep 2024 - The banging has stopped, the clutter removed... once again my personal sun room is my own.  I had no issues with the before space, and it was certainly not I that petitioned for a make-over, so I am slowly making the adjustment to its current state.  You will notice, as did I, that there are more choices now for where to camp out... and I perhaps like that... although one good spot, all mine, is more than sufficient.  There is a new smell out there, again not unpleasant, but different.  These adjustments, these reluctant accommodations, don't come naturally.

29 Sep 2024 - Mr. Sol is back for a visit, perhaps just a pop-in, so I must get out there on my personal screened deck to welcome him and receive his gifts of sunshine.  If I've learned anything during our stay in the hinterland, it is that things are not always as they appear:  all that glorious brightness beyond the portal may not equate with turn-my-bones-to-butter warmth, but I am hopeful that I can find a sheltered spot where the temperature is acceptable for the moment.  Besides I need to put in an appearance among the interlopers, just so they won't forget.

28 Sep 2024 - Near my favorite personal sun room, this ledge gives great views of the lakeside, my altered route when the deck portal is not open.  Although the peeps and I would disagree what color is glowing there on the tabletop, it grabs both of our attentions:  an alert of some sort, blink blink.  The taller peep, I am told, was a little-peep scout, but he says it is too monotonic to be a code.  However it will respond to his voice... which I find very creepy, just short of prompting my skedaddle.

27 Sep 2024 - The taller peep and I don't usually share the same piece of furniture, so my nap isn't a deep one.  Through no misbehavior on his part, he still calls to mind traumatic events in my kittenhood... and that part of my brain insists on sounding the alert.  Were he to don a white coat, I would truly freak out.  I realize that this anxiety is an irrational reaction to his size and shape, but when the irrational is screaming in your head it is hard to hear the calm voice of reason.

26 Sep 2024 - I am pleased to report that eventually employees showed up for work, no explanation given for their late ways, no explanation required (I know what is important).  My Plan B can be filed away until needed, its existence comforting to the one who is in charge.  The important thing is that an office lap is once again available, from whence I can measure our domestic product while enjoying a head scratch.  I will admit that our workplace rules are a bit lax, but I am anxious around sticks and not fond of carrots... so my managerial style is uniquely my own.

25 Sep 2024 - Is it a hump-day boycott, a late-morning start?  What should the office manager do when there are no employees?  I must think through the implications of a zero work force, and figure out some can't-resist incentives to get my peeps back into production.  The domicile is small enough that eventually one of them will wander through the space, and my presence, hopefully, will remind him/her that money for kibble must be earned.

24 Sep 2024 - What can I say?  I make an impression, and not always as I intended.  An interloper might not have deduced that I had passed by, but the shorter peep knew whose tracks these were without ever seeing me in the act.  That really doesn't spoil my plan as my stealth is directed at the ne'er-do-wells seeking shelter in our domicile, a plan, I will add, that the peeps unanimously support.  And like most impressions, my paw prints will disappear with time, even from peep memory.

23 Sep 2024 - After this photo was taken, the shorter peep suggested I move elsewhere.  I do take instructions, not always and not right away, but I do like to keep the residents happy... without understanding why two jumps away was a better place to hunker down.  I suppose the bafflement is just another example of cross-species differences... which should not surprise me given how physically unalike we are.  (For the record I prefer being a cat.)

22 Sep 2024 - Mini-Mr. Sol appeared today in the black box.  I have been keeping a wary eye on it, lest it wander elsewhere... but so far it is making a favorable impression on the surrounding air.  The shorter peep wouldn't open the portal to my personal screened deck this morning, a change from our routine that ramps my anxiety.  Do these two events have a connection?  This matter underscores the frustrations of inter-species communication, as an answer to this simple question would stop my pacing and allow my fully enjoying the uptick in temperature.

21 Sep 2024 - Life isn't neat and tidy, and my peeps wage a continual battle against chaos.  For the record I take no responsibility for this rug's misalignment with the portal.  If its placement were truly important, I figure my two would have affixed it to the floor.  Probably it is supposed to square with our latitudinal line, but even my keen eyesight can't see a 44° designation anywhere about the domicile.  Besides we cats aren't keen on conformity, and rather like playing in, on, under, and outside of the box.

20 Sep 2024 - This furniture's back is almost as good as a portal ledge:  wider but the footing can be a bit tricky.  Occasionally I have had to dismount "suddenly" yet gracefully... and always landing on four paws.  When the shorter peep is sitting here, this spot allows me to investigate her head fur... after all there could be small interlopers hiding in the tangle.  It would be irresponsible of me to not roust these ne'er-do-wells, and besides it's fun to grab a hank of her hair... it always gets a response (just in case she has forgotten me).

19 Sep 2024 - We cats like to work alone, feeling no need to pack together.  In fact if a half dozen of my kind were thrown together, there would be much caterwauling expressed and anxiety felt.  So I really am lucky to share my abode with just peeps, a situation where I am the number-one feline, all attention lavished on me.  That isn't to suggest that my day is booked with command performances... my schedule is largely of my own making (a hiss upon those pesky interlopers).

18 Sep 2024 - We cats were elsewhere when modesty was being handed out... and that is fine with us, no loss at all.  Although there are nearly-naked versions of my kind, most of us are nattily dressed from nose to tail, and take pride in our appearance.  As far as our behavior goes, we don't make a distinction between public and private... which peeps seem to take exception to.  I figure it is their problem, and I intend to keep doing what I've always done:  be a cat.
