Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

14 September 2013 - To keep life fresh and interesting, I occasionally must change things up.  Some days I feel like hanging out in the office, other days I'm content in the bedroom, but lately I have been auditioning the chair in the dining room.  It is difficult to capture in words what exactly a new spot needs in order for me to adopt it as THE spot.  From the expression on my peeps' faces, they haven't figured out the allure factor either.

witchy way did he go?

Me-ow-my-oh

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 September 2013 -  No, I am not green with envy.  We cats, in order to see better in dim light, have a reflective layer behind the retina that bounces the light back into the eye...and here actually out of the eye as the color green.  This handy adaptation is called the tapetum lucidum, and it probably has contributed to that ridiculous notion that we are manifest evil.  Just gaze into my sweet face:  Do I look like bad luck to you?

a thousand words

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

12 September 2013 - How often does a photograph really do justice to the thing being depicted?  Magnificent sky vistas are totally lost when rendered as an 8x10.  I'm told that this picture is of the Garonne River with Bordeaux in the background, but I am not very good at recognizing the 2-dimensional representation of a living and breathing object...it just doesn't smell right.  BTW, I'm not lazy:  I'm just shot that way.

Me-usings and Me-emories

11 September 2013 - Why is the world so fascinated by cats sticking their heads in bags and boxes?  The allure evidently felt by both participant ("what ails you, Maru?") and audience totally escapes me.  I tried keeping an open mind, but this behavior is not my idea of having fun.  Perhaps the predilection is linked to the catnip gene, which I don't have either.  To each, his own.

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 September 2013 - Today is one of reflection.  I awoke in this frame of mind because today is Mum's birthday, or at least the day she claims as hers.  We were separated too early in life, but her guidance is still felt.  At a very basic level I owe my existence to her.  But more than that, I care for and protect those that I hold dear because she instilled in me value and purpose.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

9 September 2013 -  I'm a lover, not a fighter.  The finer things in life are sought out and enjoyed.  Not to brag, but I have a keen aesthetic eye.  It is a fallacy that we cats are color-blind:  we are sensitive to blue and green light (and of course are quite perceptive in dim light).  Our eye registers red as shades of gray... which makes a great alibi if pulled over for running a traffic light.

8 September 2013 - My ancestors came down from the trees, but never forgot the advantages of being above it all.  We cats are sure-footed creatures, unfazed by heights.  This perch is the perfect place for a nap, allowing me to keep one eye on kitchen stirrings and the other on office activity.  There is a widely held belief that we always land on our feet, but I haven't pressed this envelope.  The scuttlebutt is that one of my predecessors rolled off this railing, but he was probably conducting an experiment.
