9 Jul 2024 - Although I have witnessed the arrival of beeps from water, I am mostly concerned with a land assault... and for several reasons:  our domicile sits on the edge of a woods, with three fronts approachable on the ground, and the majority of the local interlopers nest in trees or burrows, that is, are land-based.  But a good sentry keeps his eyes open on all fronts, so I make my rounds, scanning nearby and peripheral.  My job is never boring, with its variety of trespassers and their palette of strategies... but a holiday would be nice.
