31 Aug 2025 - The portal ledge in my personal sun room is not the only approved napping spot.  If I really want to soak up Mr. Sol's warmth spot, this southerly ledge gets quite toasty on a sunny day.  Plus this corner of the room is occasionally assailed by some small sort of interloper:  I can hear the scritching beyond the wall. so obviously I keep an eye on developments.  Imagine the intruder's surprise, to pop up its head only to see me glaring... how quickly can it reverse itself?!

30 Aug 2025 - I'm blaming it on my diabolical twin, the invisible cat that sloshes the water bowl and flings litter.  Despite his tendency to get into trouble, he is a good companion:  quiet and undemanding and handy when one needs to point a paw.  And he never disputes an accusation, no matter how far-fetched, but adds it to his burden, one more thing to shoulder.  Some things I must own up to, the ones where I am "caught in the act".  However that is just sloppiness on my part:  there is no excuse for questionable behavior done when peep eyes are watching.

29 Aug 2025 - Another fine morning, another deck corner to patronize.  This particular spot offers grand views up the lake, the direction from which nippy winds come but not that much interloper traffic.  Here I am equidistant from the two beep feeders, so the air above me is busy with flight (and squabbling).  The squatty piece of furniture above me gives some concealment, sufficient for my patrol.  From here I will work myself around the perimeter and reenter our domicile, to continue the search.  With the recent nighttime chill meeps are anxious to move in.

28 Aug 2025 - I like to greet Mr. Sol as soon as he arrives... and there is a lot of variability in when to expect his sunny disposition.  Yesterday he kept me waiting the entire morning, before breaking onto the scene.  Today he made his entrance at the top of act one... perhaps he doesn't wish to be predictable, a point on which I'm sympathetic.  But now is what matters, and he is putting on a great show.  Soon I will have forgotten the chill of overnight and will be ensconced on my personal ledge, watching for interlopers and soaking up the heat.

27 Aug 2025 - My sun room ledge is also a watchtower for our southwestern flank.  There has been a lot of beep activity recently, groups flitting through the yard... I would guess in search of food, based on their focused intent.  I am very grateful to Bastet that I do not need to scrounge for my kibble, earn, yes, but that is a different matter.  To be unsure of the next meal and to know the stomach is empty isn't a state that encourages naps or an easy-going outlook.  So I'll just sit here and take in the view, and wish them success (as long as they don't rush the house).

26 Aug 2025 - Sometimes being brushed reminds me that further grooming is required.  This morning's route has been walked, so I can take the time to tend to my appearance... there is no good reason that our domicile's guard should look gnarly.  Plus it is a good way to wait out the fog hanging over the lake... who knows, the day may turn into a fine one for my personal screened deck.  But meanwhile I will scrub my face and ears and that hard-to-reach spot between my shoulders.  The interlopers may not care what I look like, but I do.

25 Aug 2025 - It sorta looks like me, without the white highlights.  Today I have no shadowy companion, but yesterday it followed me around like a younger sibling... actually preferable to a kid kit in that it didn't pounce on my sleeping form or stick its head in my food bowl.  I like what is implied by its presence:  lots of Mr. Sol, which means my personal sun room is especially inviting.  I like that space even on days like today, but if you're a cat, you can't beat heat with a lovely view of the woods.

24 Aug 2025 - Having already scanned the woods for interlopers, I am now keeping an eye on activity inside my personal sun room.  In past visits to the hinterland I have found meeps and even a small sneep in this space, so it does bear watching.  Actually, with three sides exposed to the woods, it is a prime corridor for ne'er-do-wells... and I am surprised that I've not seen more of that ilk here.  I'll chalk that up to my constant patrol and skip-no-corners surveillance.  I do a good job (just stating facts).

23 Aug 2025 - There are some things worth a pause in my patrol circuit, and a chin chuck is definitely one of them.  Its name doesn't begin to suggest its satisfying affect.  If I'm not careful it will cause me to close my eyes and even doze off... neither of which is good for intercepting interlopers.  But the shorter peep doesn't have all day for these endearments, so too soon the fur-stroking will stop and I will be on my way... just as soon as I'm able to focus and shift my motor into gear.

22 Aug 2025 - On a day that Mr. Sol exceeds himself, this spot is a nice retreat.  Plus it is seldom visited by peeps, yet has a direct line of sight into the busiest room of our domicile and, beyond that, my personal screened deck.  So when I want a quiet, not-as-hot place to relax, I come here and curl up.  And when I'm in need of a head pat or other sort of treat, I emerge from my lair and seek out my two... because they might be missing my company and desirous of my purrs.

21 Aug 2025 - One should take advantage of an opportunity.  In the case of a cat, we have to cogitate on the advantages and disadvantages (typically requiring the standard three minutes) before making a decision.  After all, do I really want or need to be on the other side?  That is a tough question to answer when one lives in the moment.  But I am so overjoyed to see the deck door ajar, the detested portal shunted aside, that of course I wish to enter... if only to immediately pivot and exit again.

20 Aug 2025 - How shall I start my day?  All the corners of our domicile must be visited, plus a sweep of the yard from my personal screened deck and sun room ledge... but where to begin?  My goal is to be unpredictable to the interlopers, which isn't as simple as it sounds.  First I must recall the routes taken from the past several days, and then I have to concoct something thorough but different.  I'll admit that the first point is the more difficult, since we cats live in the moment.  Hopefully those ne'er-do-wells are similarly wired.

19 Aug 2025 - And just to illustrate that I'm up for change, I am facing the opposite direction on my personal sun room ledge.  The view is quite different, the napping conditions not dissimilar.  In this orientation I can see through the woods the water that curves past our hinterland domicile... which means that we are equally vulnerable from land or by sea.  I take both threats seriously, but the sort of interlopers I most commonly see are the landed sort, so keeping eyes on what moves in the forest is my highest priority.
