sunny side up

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

17 March 2017 - It is guaranteed that a watched cat never toils.  The theme continues (me bathed in sunshine), but I admit to being in a better mood than yesterday.  And yes, my peeps have been forgiven, claiming that they were unaware (and how!) of my plaintive cries.  Besides, holding a grudge does more harm to the one holding it, so that alone is ample reason for me to let go of the negativity.  And bright, warm light never fails to lighten my spirits.  In fact had this shot been taken from a lower angle, you might have been able to see a slight space between me and the porch floor.

I wasn't (stub)born yesterday

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

16 March 2018 - After repeated calls for assistance, I am left with several interpretations:  1)  my peeps are in fact not in the house, having sneaked out the front door, or 2) my peeps are deaf (partially is a known fact), or 3) my buddies are ignoring me.  I think that I would be aware of choice #1, and I really don't want to admit the possibility of #3, so the only acceptable explanation is deafness.  The next time our paths cross, I will check out this hypothesis... but until then, I'll bide my time here in the sun and try not to get bent out of shape.

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 March 2018 - I think my peeps get a tad nervous when I am perched on this railing... which isn't why I occasionally hop up.  As you can see, the view from here is worth the effort.  And, if we are honest, we all live with risk, even when sleeping in our beds.  So this five-inch wide walkway is quite adequate for my needs... perhaps not for the size-ten feet of the taller peep.  I have never tried landing on four paws from this height, and also don't feel the need to test the adage.  Reckless behavior we don't have to live with.

Me-usings and Me-emories

12 March 2018 - Today is a prime example, certainly not of enviable weather, but of primes:  this entry is #1297 of my ramblings.  Who knew, when this lark began, that I would have so much to say?  Certainly not I, but here I am... with this thought, "you never know until you ask."  Many of us never pose the question because of the certainty of a negative response, and by never uttering the words we insure denial.  So, go ahead, I encourage you.  Nothing will be lost by beseeching (while maintaining decorum... very important point) a peep for some consideration, and occasionally I have been pleasantly rewarded.

11 March 2018 - Don't you just love when Mother Nature upstages the weather forecast?  Forget the lost hour (which it appears here in Florida we will never get back), and marvel at how much nicer today is than its predicted version.  I could almost subsist on sunny warmth, and we are lucky enough to have an edenic setting... which admittedly helps with the good vibes.  I am pumped at the recognition that I have survived another cold season, my absolutely least favorite time of the year.  And from the colorful look of things, Mother Nature is also much happier when the snow blanket is packed away.

a lion's share

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 March 2018 - As I promised, here I am, offering my sunny disposition... and the shorter peep most always is in need of extra warmth.  How was it decided that we cats come equipped with a thick coat, and peeps missed that issuance?  You probably have noticed that peeps aren't totally naked, but the bit of fuzz that covers their arms and legs is worthless as insulation against the cold.  Instead they must wear layers to keep their body temperature in the acceptable range... and then of course wash those layers and store those layers until needed again.  What a lot of work, when all I have to do is rise and stretch!  (I don't even have to pick up my "clothes" when I shed... we cats have it made.)

blissen up

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

9 March 2018 - I like to think that I bring a bit of sunshine to the lives of my peeps (no boast, just an observation).  But that boost I give to their spirits would not be possible if I didn't get my time in the spotlight.  After all one can't lighten another's load when the worker of said levity isn't in a good place.  I can chart the passage of Sol across the sky by the progression of lit (and consequently toasty) places in the house.... I know them all, some perfect for a morning snooze, others inviting me to a siesta.  When I am warming my bones (and bearing the scoffs of passers-by), I do it knowing that others dear to me will benefit.
