2 February 2015 - Envy is on the no-no list, so it may not surprise anyone how many different synonyms it has.  The traditionalist in me likes "covetousness", from Latin cupiditas (and Valentine's Day is just around the corner), but my literary side is partial to "green-eyed monster".  That image alone should be sufficient deterrent.  Why, exactly, is it that having one's needs met doesn't douse the desire for more?  Peeps are especially prone to discontent, and are none the happier for it.  We cats live much simpler lives...but should you be getting any unseemly ideas, "get your own lap".
