17 February 2016 - According to the beeps at the window, spring is here.  I am not certain that they know what they are talking about, as waking to temperatures in the forties is not my idea of a harbinger.  Perhaps they have jumped the gun, but they are definitely throwing themselves against the glass.  My rational mind knows that I am on the inside and they are on the outside, but I can't resist lunging at them...just as they can't not fight their reflection.  That old part of our brains, the repository of our species' innate behaviors, is often forgotten as we go about our civilized lives...that is, until a particular stimulus is encountered, and we are once again our uncouth ancestors.
