in the groove

17 Jun 2023 - Once those older neural pathways began to fire, I found my hinterland routine... such as joining the shorter peep on the bench for breakfast.  Naturally I enjoy eating my treats from this elevated position... it seems more befitting to someone who has deified ancestors.  And those head pats are more forthcoming when I am so conveniently near.  Once she has finished her morning meal, she takes the comb to my fur and then puts kibble in my bowl, and I realize the day is off to a good, if not sunny, start.

16 Jun 2023 - Although all is not yet forgiven, I am settling in nicely.  My present circumstances would be much improved if the peeps had thought to bring Mr. Sol along.  It isn't that he's gone missing, but rather he has lapsed back to that anemic state I was complaining about several months ago.  Perhaps with time he'll recover to the radiant health I so associate with him.  Until then I will keep the blood circulating with vigorous gallops through the domicile and by claiming warmed seats when they are vacated.

15 Jun 2023 - Well, if it seems that I dropped off the planet, that wouldn't be too far from the truth.  This picture summarizes my life for the past few days.  I sensed something "was up", but other than retreat to my most secret hiding spot, what could I do?  So I was roughly seized, tossed into that hellish bag, and subjected to levels of noise that probably did purrmanent damage.  But obviously I have emerged from the ordeal I thought would never end... and, although it seems we left Mr. Sol far behind, I recognize my environs.  There is no time to elaborate, but let me say that I am very busy rousting interlopers.

as I like it

12 Jun 2023 - Look at that intense white light!  There is good reason that I'm lying in the shade, because it is now finally hot enough for me.  I have expunged all those memories of drab chill, of my inability to get warm... they've been burned away by Mr. Sol's insistence.  After the shorter peep and I have our morning nourishment, getting the day off to its start, I mosey to my personal screened porch and decide where I shall lie first.  For good reason summer is a time of slow thoughts and little movement.

11 Jun 2023 - If this ledge had a cushion, it just might be my favorite hunkering spot.  Its view of the domicile interior can't be topped, yet from below it is easily overlooked.  Cats handle heights well, and consequently we sometimes scale something that is a challenge to descend.  There are tales amongst my kind of furry dare-devils who had to be rescued by an obliging peep.  For exactly that reason I limit myself to an elevation from which I can leap... because the very last thing I want is a stranger coming to my aid.

10 Jun 2023 - It is important to stay hydrated during hot weather.  To keep ourselves from steaming like a bun, we sweat... although if the humidity is low (typically not the case here at our domicile), you might not notice the watery film on your skin.  Because I spend so my time on my personal screened porch, the peeps provide a second, and more convenient, water bowl.  Its presence is much appreciated, since I already put in many steps with my job.  If a passing shower adds to the bowl's content, I find the resulting flavor quite tasty.

9 Jun 2023 - The shorter peep almost caught my big, gaping yawn:  just because we cats creep around at dawn, doesn't mean that we're totally awake at that hour.  Putting one paw in front of the other can be handled by automatic pilot, and I have no desire to lap up a saucer of black nastiness to jolt my body into the day.  What would quickly bring me to my senses is detected motion, the possibility of an interloper... then I would slam the engine into full gear, and tear off in pursuit.
