8 July 2016 - Consider the cat's paw...really an engineering feet, er, feat. But Merriam-Webster records three other, and very dissimilar, meanings for this phrase. The least interesting IMO is a common fishing knot, that I grant is quite elegant in its simplicity. The next arises from one of Aesop's fables, where a monkey dupes a cat (well, it is a bit of fiction, largely constructed to impart a lesson...which I would not have needed, duh). But my favorite, mainly because its effect is so fascinating to watch, is a light breeze that ruffles the surface of a body of water. It is one of those serendipitous moments that feels special to have caught.
