17 September 2018 - I am very certain this object was not here yesterday.  What is it, and where did it come from?  After a cautious approach (it could be booby-trapped) and thorough vetting with the nose, I have declared it of little interest... except it is occupying prime real estate.  I have noticed in the past these sorts of things tend to resolve without much ado on my part.  I am hoping this time that will be the case.  Otherwise I shall have to learn to snooze in its presence... or perhaps even use it as a lean-to shelter.
