8 Nov 2023 - North by northwest, all is quiet... although earlier in the day there was a noisy passage through the underbrush (even the shorter peep heard it).  From my personal screened porch I followed its transit, waiting for it to emerge and identify itself.  It kept up a steady gait, evidently knew its intentions, and exited from sight along our driveway.  I'm not familiar with all the sorts of canidae, but it definitely was a dim-deep, dun colored and largish.  I filed its appearance away as one of those above my pay-grade (I'd hate for our paths to intersect).
