8 June 2017 - Can you splay your toes?  My peeps can't, but then how often do they need to pick up a pencil with their feet?  I have no need for that particular skill either, but the ability to articulate these terminals is handy when I am executing my pedicure.  Splaying also displays my claws, which might be Nature's way of saying "I may look vulnerable in this position, but back off."  Having these talons exposed while I clean means that I have to be careful.  I wouldn't want to fork my tongue.

7 June 2017 - Long before everyone walked around with silver cubes in their pockets, people made do with a sheet of dark paper, scissors, and a bright light.  The cut-out silhouette harkens back to a simpler time, and would now be considered quaint and dusty. But the meanderings of a closed curve can reveal much of interest:  a strong chin, the bump of a shoulder blade, an assured head tilt.  Against this vibrant background, I seem to be a black hole... and in fact very little escapes me.

6 June 2017 - I do worry about the shorter peep.  Doesn't she have anything more pressing to do with her time than follow me around with that silver cube in her hand?  Don't think that I don't enjoy her company, but shouldn't she be fully engaged in her life?  Doing what peeps do, out and about, busy with her friends and family, managing her business?  Yet here she is, staring at me.  I don't possess the answer to the big question... and even if I did, there is little assurance that what works for me would satisfy her need to know.  All that I can offer is a stream of purrs and a head to pat.  Oh, and I almost forgot my good looks.

5 June 2017 - I can understand peeps' desire to climb the ladder, although their motives are not mine.  Rather than getting ahead, the higher the better, I say... although I do detect a smidge of distress in our household when I am so perched.  I much prefer seeing the tops of heads, than having to dodge scurrying feet.  Feeling faint on the edge of a precipice is something I haven't experienced, and what self-respecting cat would admit to such anyway.  My nose was made for looking down it.

4 June 2017 - These days I am less and less a wild thing.  It is now preferable to stretch my energy over an extended period, rather than have one uncontrolled outburst.  But I still have my moments.  The shorter peep deeply frowns on sharpening my nails in the domicile, but I am totally misunderstood:  I am in fact removing the points, filing them down with my wall-sized emery board.  I have seen her do the same thing... just using the hand-held variety, and she doesn't make unhappy faces for that.

3 June 2017 - I admit that most of my porch time is quite laid back, or rather laid out.  But occasionally my senses detect something that warrants investigation.  The vast majority of these instances are nothing over which to sound an alarm:  for example, a beep rustling leaves.  But it is my job to check these things out and rank the threat to domicile and my charges.  The end result is that the peeps observe my prone body, and think, "what the life"... while totally unaware of the service I render.  It is nigh impossible to toot my own horn without opposable digits.

2 June 2017 - The rational side of me doesn't like the implications of this satchel's appearance on the bed.  What are my peeps planning?  And more importantly, does it involve me?  Is this bag the prelude to my being stuffed in a carrier and hustled away?  My emotional side thinks that I have an opportunity to up the ante by at least a foot, while being comfortable.  Call me delusional, but I am sticking with the comfy interpretation.  Why?  Because we cats aren't good at thinking two moves ahead, and actually would prefer not to move at all.
