1 June 2017 - Here I am, totally self-contained, meeting my own needs, bothering no one.  Evidently the shorter peep believes this singularity needs documentation.  I probably should take offense at that suggestion, but life is too short, even with the promise of nine cycles.  So I will give her my best "go away" look, and get back to the business of morning ablutions.  What is the difference between habit and ritual?  Perhaps the former lacks solemnity.  If that is true, I have got it covered in spades... unless I missed a spot.

31 May 2017 - As you can see, the door onto the screened porch was eventually opened for me.  But can you not see why I enjoy being out here?  This picture just captures the visual, delightful as it is, but the smells are equally important for a cat.  I can sense from this lofty perch the past or present presence of that mangy interloper,  catch the aroma of rain and wet dirt, detect the odor of plants drooping in the sun.  If I remain here long, I will add to the array my distinctive perfume… but only peeps with hyperosmia (or dander allergies) would ever know.

30 May 2017 - Yes, I was just out there yesterday, and the day before.  But were you not just in the kitchen, and there yesterday and the day before?  So I guess I fail to see your point.  Sometimes I enjoy chillin' in the house, sometimes I like being outside in the heat.  Your real beef, I suspect, is that you have to open the door for me.  But when something is truly impossible for one to do, helping that someone is not enabling him.  Rather it is a kind service that you offer.  Perhaps an attitude-adjustment is needed?  Whatever, would you please let me out?  I promise not to bug you again... for at least ten minutes.

29 May 2017 - We are all creatures of habit, fond of our routines... which is why I hang out at the peeps' sink.  Sooner or later, one of them will materialize, and I can cadge a drink from the tap.  True, if I partook from my bowl, I wouldn't have to wait for a serendipitous appearance.  But if I curl up on the handy towel, I really can get comfortable, making what might otherwise be a chore into an hour at the spa.  So, no, in a quiet, low-light room with creature amenities I don't mind biding my time for the fresh stuff.  Besides I occasionally get to enjoy a startled look on their faces.

28 May 2017 - The Great Outdoors!  Although I admit preferring it from inside a screened enclosure, as Nature is rife with buggy creatures that make a cat's life miserable.  I suppose purists would scoff at my unwillingness to experience the entire picture, but those laughers can scratch at their welts and rashes while I repose untroubled in the shadows.  From this position I can still smell the roses, still get sprinkled with pine pollen, still hear the cacophony of wild creatures... and I am not changing the soundtrack by inserting myself into its midst.

27 May 2017 - No doubt the shorter peep thinks that my spinal twist is part of a yoga workout, but my curved posture is required for a complete grooming.  From this overhead angle I do suggest the dark side of yin-yang.  Anti-heroes are popular in the current mythos (what will become of Luke Skywalker?), but I have no such delusions despite the hidden treacheries of the yin.  I am merely a cat with a supple back, sufficiently foolhardy to bathe in full view of a camera.

26 May 2017 - Is the shorter peep trying to be a tuxedo?  From the looks of her wardrobe she does favor black.  But I enjoy her lap, regardless what color it is.  And I know that we are a team even without her wearing the uniform.  Typically I can hold her down for a few minutes (unless she is reading a book, then I am in luck), before I am plunked elsewhere and she is off to do whatever those firing neurons dictate.  I understand impulses:  occasionally I must pause my meditation for a swift scratch or a paw polish.  But I bet that my interruptions are more pleasurable than hers.
