pleasing to the eye

Shamus on view

Me-usings and Me-emories

8 Jul 2023 - Can you imagine this as an Old Masters' painting?  We cats can be captured by camera, but we are not inclined to pose indefinitely for the application of oil on canvas.  Thankfully John James Audubon did not choose my species to document on his treks through my southern home.  Perhaps our general uncooperativeness explains our near absence in art... except for that of the Ancient Egyptians.  Now there is a culture I admire, but alas, like all good things, its time has come to an end.  Demotion from godhood is not something one gets over quickly.

  1. I am also glad Audubon didn’t focus on cats…he focused on birds, which he skinned and ate along the way!
