lofty ideals

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

7 February 2017 - We cats don't know the meaning of acrophobia (a word that swallowed would have to be hacked up)... perhaps because it never occurs to us to distrust our heightened balance.  There are so many advantages to the high road, besides that satisfying feeling of superiority:  a defendable position, an offensive stronghold, a panoramic view... plus it is a guaranteed means to remove oneself from the riffraff.  I groom enough as it is without hanging with the dust bunnies.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

6 February 2017 - I figured out these shiny surfaces more than a decade ago, but I still find them fascinating.  What isn't to like when one of me can be replicated into a well-mannered and good-looking pride of felines?  My peeps must feel similarly since they often stand at this place, gazing/grimacing at themselves.  And for those of you didactic sorts, I fully realize that there is a bowl of water to my left.  Anyone who has sampled both will confirm that the stuff flowing straight from the tap tastes better.

Me-usings and Me-emories

5 February 2017 - Not everyone is as lovable as I am… a sad fact, but not necessarily a lonely verdict.  If each of us would show kindness to the other, even share a hug, then together we could boost, by a significant amount, the world's outlook.  Alienation fuels distrust which in turn stokes anger.  Wouldn't you rather encounter a smiling stranger than one with hackles raised?  If we take the "grr" out of "gargoyle", we are left with a disarming realization:  under that scary exterior is "a goyle".  Who knew?

Me-usings and Me-emories

4 February 2017 - I assure you that I haven't grown wings... nor am I conducting an identity check,  dim-deep style.  My intent gaze is actually work-related:  to my left is a window onto the front yard (and the coast is clear).  I don't know why peeps are so quick to jump to conclusions:  just because my belly is on the ground doesn't preclude serious work.  After all, many of them receive paychecks for sitting in a chair.

navel inspection

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

3 February 2017 - There is much documentation of my standing guard at a window, looking out into the chaos that is our world.  But I haven't forgotten the need for introspection, because in our domicile there is an inner perimeter to be defended as well.  Peeps are aware of the demons that lie within, so my job isn't a cushy one... and quite frankly the dual role asked of me is at times exhausting.  I am not getting any younger until the next life.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

2 February 2017 - It is a stretch to claim that I sing the blues (the shorter peep might disagree).  There are times (many) that I must communicate my needs and my wishes, and for those I do speak up.  If my voice falls lyrically upon the ears, and if my song prompts action, then all is good.  But it is really about the second point that I most care:  peep action.  Without their assistance I am forced to lower myself through that portal... how much more dignified and gratifying it is to have the door opened for me.

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

1 February 2017 - Those of you who live where winter still has you in its grip (gripe?) won't understand that we Floridians are seeing spring with every azalea blossom.  Our exuberance occasionally gets knocked back into proportion with a 40-degree morning, but we are a hopeful lot.  It only takes a huge blue sky and moderate temperatures to prod the peeps outside, to prune the shrubbery, to buy a 6-pack of tomato seedlings, to dig in the dirt (I understand this compulsion).  I am more interested in what visits our yard, those colorful migrating beeps.  Personally I see no reason to go any further north. Why tinker with perfection?
