a distress pall

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

7 December 2018 - I am a bit horrified that the shorter peep was actually watching a video of very dim deeps dressed in holiday attire.  Can the perpetrator who staged this nonsense be punished (or at least reprimanded to a corner)?  Is the two-minute loop supposed to be funny, pitiful, mindless?  My only comment is that you would never catch me in a wagon wearing a Santa hat, just so the voyeuristic world could snicker... actually you would have to catch me (good luck with that) and sedate me and tie me down.

6 December 2018 - If you can't beat it, join it... at least temporarily (and without purring in contentment).  I was pleased to realize that this ledge hasn't moved beyond my leap, although the shorter peep thankfully missed the final scramble.  After expending that much effort I feel it necessary to remain here longer than I'd like, perhaps rest up for my next bit of calisthenics.  During the holidays one is apt to consume more calories than are burned, and I intend to remain in my trim form... getting winded during a guard-duty sprint conveys the wrong message.

5 December 2018 - The rocking of the boat gets worse when I close my eyes!  And staying awake, as you know, is a definite hardship.  My kind were taken aboard long voyages, our presence guaranteeing the heave-ho to rodent stowaways... and on a craft with close quarters, no one wishes to share his space with a food-stealing and disease-carrying pest.  I much prefer solid ground beneath my paws, but probably could have adapted to a salt's life (and may not have been given a choice).  To feel needed is a good thing, but, speaking for myself, to be left alone is equally desirable.

4 December 2018 - I am only ten feet from the scene of yesterday's picture, but what a different story my body English tells:  receptive vs. secretive, relaxed vs. prowling, cute vs. dangerous.  And that exposed tail  completely changes the interpretation.  If I really wished to go undetected, it would have been tucked beneath the curtain; instead, it is peep bait.  Who dares to approach, who dares to pull it?  And what mayhem will burst from hiding?  Without uttering a word, I have posed a be-brave challenge.

kind for a day

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

3 December 2018 - The point of a weekend, I surmise, is to allow the worker some personal time to work on pressing matters at home.  In early December that could mean joining the mall crowds, standing in the kitchen for long hours, finding/decorating a tree, wrapping presents... and the list continues.  There is little surprise, with all this busyness crammed into two days, that one might need a day off to recover from the weekend.  I think that is a perfect use for Mondays.

2 December 2018 - The shorter peep and I have always gone well together, but today we really complement one another.  She would claim otherwise, but I believe she dressed this way just for me... although it was totally unnecessary as I like her even if she wears psychedelic pink (fat chance).  But it does make me wonder/worry:  does she secretly wish that I were a gray tabby?  These are the thoughts of an insecure cat, so I quickly realize that I am overthinking her choice of shirt.  Probably her tuxedo jacket is at the cleaners...or maybe she doesn't even own one, not wishing to compete with yours truly.  She is thoughtful like that.

1 December 2018 - I am trying to work around the recent house hazards, but I am very motivated when it comes to faucet water.  So far, none of the introduced obstacles have lunged at me or oozed sinister vibes, but that doesn't mean that they are to be benignly ignored.  I would not be a very good sentry if my guard could so easily be compromised.  If our domicile decor was left to me, nothing would have changed since my arrival (other than fresh litter in my box).  But it seems that most can't live that way (although the taller peep might come close without the shorter peep's intervention).  Some foolish soul said that "variety is the spice of life"… but then black pepper makes me sneeze.
