surmount doom

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

7 March 2019 - I may have made an important discovery:  it is warmer up here than down there on the floor.  And when every degree counts, I truly appreciate the difference.  The shorter peep has informed me this cold snap is over:  I want to believe her, but recovery from near-freezing weather could take longer than I have left.  That is a bit of cat humor... I have no intention of missing out on summer.  Nor will I give Ol'Man Winter the satisfaction of besting me.  Personally I think his tactics are cruel and unusual... and should be reported to a higher authority.  Bastet, are you listening?

purr favor

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

6 March 2019 - I am not sure whom to thank for putting this warm jacket here for my use.  It smells of the shorter peep, an added plus that lulls me into a satisfying sleep.  Just when I thought the weather had settled nicely into spring, we awake to very chilly conditions, inside and out.  So having this fleecy warmth beneath my ready-for-summer coat is most welcome.  I do worry that it is mine only temporarily:  what if the shorter peep requires another layer of clothing?  In a pinch there is always her lap.

5 March 2018 - Poised on the edge, ready to jump... I am not always a slug.  I am, it is a fact, a reluctant exerciser, but I feel that just leaves more energy for when it truly is needed.  I am aware that some peeps maintain a regular schedule of sweating and stretching, and I do not judge them.  Perhaps their bodies require whipping-in-shape on a daily basis?  But once blessed with fast-twitch muscle, always quick to react.  Some might label it "jumpy" or "twitchy", but that split-second difference can be a life-saver.  Actually it is amazing to behold:  one minute an inert mass, the next a supernova of movement.

dicey conditions

Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

4 March 2019 - If one uses the walks-like-a-talks-like-a test, then this thing under my nose is definitely not a meep.  And I speak from first-hand experience, as I have had to deal with said during our time in the hinterland.  Albino varieties are not unknown, but this thing smells artificial, and only moves about with peep assistance.  What sort of life is that?  So I have judged it of little consequence, its presence near my chosen spot a minor irritation... forcing me to keep an eye on it.

3 March 2019 - My peeps will second the notion that I am a very sweet-natured cat.  However it is unwise to think that I will remain docile if cornered.  Any creature, if threatened, will either defend itself or flee the scene, and sometimes that choice is made by circumstances.  We felines come equipped with pointy incisors and shredding claws, plus the reflex moves to eviscerate our attacker.  Since the domestic variety rarely weigh more than twenty pounds, and mostly tip the scale around ten, we have to compensate for our size with agility and cunning.  So don't pull our tails, and expect a purr.

2 March 2019 - I admit that we cats can be very perverse... and our inner satisfaction manifests as that infamous Cheshire grin.  The shorter peep tried mightily (once again, you might recall) to snap a photograph of my tongue.  I was fully aware of her intention, so every time she bore down on me with that silver cube, I purposefully pulled it in.  She took picture after picture, and left the scene somewhat frustrated (not enough that I worry for her safety).  Now I am feeling somewhat badly for my uncooperative behavior... I will curl up in her lap to show there are no hard feelings.

Me-usings and Me-emories

1 March 2019 - Now that it is consistently warmer (thank Bastet), I am spending less time in the shorter peep's lap.  That is not an indication of a change in our relationship, and I am certain that she is aware of this.  While I no longer require the extra heat, I do miss the camaraderie that comes from her scratching my head or patting my flanks.  That physical connection across species is a link when words fail.  Not wishing to deprive either of us, I have removed myself to the desktop, adjacent to the keyboard... still within arm's reach.
