Me-ow-my-oh!

Me-usings and Me-emories

15 May 2018 - Yesterday was so gloomy that I couldn't summon the energy to be productive.  I am not one to buck the inevitable, which means that I spent the majority of the daylight hours (hard to tell with a gray sky) in bed.  My peeps rose and did their Monday thing, occasionally popping by to pat my head and murmur encouragement.  But mostly I was allowed to rejuvenate in the quiet darkness.  I must say that today I feel much more with it... obviously down time was required.  And that is precisely what I mean about listening to your body, for in the end it will have the final say.

14 May 2018 - It's Monday... back to work!  Although with all the different job schedules possible these days, one can no longer assume a Monday-through-Friday nine-to-five schedule for the average peep.  However, whatever the moniker, there will always be one with the grumpiness of Monday and the jubilation of Friday... that just seems to be the pattern.  But it is a troubling situation when the majority of one's adult life is lived in survival mode.  We cats are so very different from our peep companions that comparisons are largely symbolic... however for the record I have no intention of throwing myself off the ledge because the weekend is over.

12 May 2018 - Ah, the weekend!  Of course, every day is Saturday for us cats.  Wake up the shorter peep, eat breakfast, conduct an outside patrol, return for a snooze, meet the shorter peep for lunch, snooze some more, etc.  All things in moderation means that whether it is Monday or Sunday, I make time for my job, my peeps, and myself... and not always in that order.  "No pain, no gain" sounds like a masochist's motto to me.  My advice:  practice kindness, to yourself and others.

Me-usings and Me-emories

11 May 2018 - I am certain that the peeps put this table here for my use.  Otherwise it sees no action, and quietly gathers dust.  At least I wipe the top clean every time I plop down for a snooze.  Our domicile has numerous level changes, so there are many steps, literally, in my patrol of the interior.  A fellow deserves to rest his, ahem, dogs, after padding around, and this particular spot offers a surveillance advantage... all it requires is my opening one eye to ascertain if both eyes are needed.  I take my work seriously, but I also practice the importance of R&R.  Peeps could learn a thing or two from us cats.

10 May 2018 - The reason that karaoke bars are so popular is that most everyone fancies him/herself a singer, the undiscovered voice.  We may belt out our songs in the privacy of a shower or our automobile, too shy to risk an audience,  The more confident may actually join a chorale, to give the vocal cords an outlet while still having some anonymity.  And then there are a few who have bested their inhibitions and can actually entrance their listeners.  We felines are quite fond of hearing ourselves sing, and often seek out the echo chamber of an alley in order to enjoy the effect.  Our non-abidance to well tempering means that feline vocalization doesn't suit every Western ear.  But we don't require peep approval.

9 May 2018 - If my foreleg wasn't dangling, I would be much harder to spot.  Of course if I really wanted to hide, you'd still be searching for me.  The folded towel on the bed no longer holds much appeal, mainly because the ambient temperatures are finally in the cat-approved range.  Instead I sprawl wherever the mood strikes.  When the shorter peep is in this part of the house, I often join her.  It is a better guarantee that the sink faucet will be turned on for my slurping pleasure... plus enabling me to keep an eye on her (as she is known for wandering off).

8 May 2018 - Sun-catcher should be on my resumé, perhaps even expert sun-catcher.  It isn't really a talent:  one must notice a bright spot, a place warm to the feet, and then remember the location.  My method is somewhat complicated by the sun's passage across the sky, so such a find isn't always desirable throughout the day.  But when something is supremely necessary, one finds a way to make it happen.  Besides, mental exercise is good for the ol' noodle (and doesn't require physical exertion).
