Me-usings and Me-emories
1 July 2015 - The first day of July, otherwise known in these parts as Canada Day, also happens to be when Venus and Jupiter can be seen snuggling just above the western horizon. Evidently the close conjunction hasn't been duplicated for the past two millennia. I find that very cool...so I sat out on the deck last night, hoping for a glimpse of the cosmic show. At a latitude of almost forty-five degrees, our days linger on. Even at ten o'clock, a bright twilight persisted. And then there is a problem with the trees. We face out over the lake in a northeasterly direction, making sunrise our best view. We can appreciate the sunset colors, especially when they are reflected in the lake, but westerly details are obstructed. I will keep looking for the heavenly pair, but I have nothing to reward last night's vigil.
