17  Nov 2025 - Whoever/whatever applied the black to my coat had a wry sense of humor... that, or he/it couldn't hold the brush steady.  The asymmetry is most evident on my forelegs, but there are other spots that do their own thing.  I suspect that being left-right identical is rare... maybe even boring.  The dominant side of my peeps is slightly larger, even if subtle, so the trait isn't cat-specific.  I like my bicoloration, but perfection isn't my goal, not even my concern.  The pedants claim that I can't recognize myself in a mirror, but the more important ability is differentiating myself from the interlopers.

16 Nov 2025 - It can be quite informative to sit in another's chair:  is life here comfortable?  what's the view like?  are there annoying obstructions?  are all needs conveniently nearby?  In a matter of minutes one can understand the occupant's mood and general outlook on the world.  But I already am very familiar with the shorter peep's whys and wherefors, so actually I'm here because she just vacated the spot and left behind a warm body print (that I am enjoying).

here today

Me-usings and Me-emories

15 Nov 2025 - I haven't explored this ledge recently, and look what I found:  lots of peep stuff with interesting smells (but  no interlopers).  It didn't take long to satisfy my curiosity and to assure my overly-concerned mind, and then I was on my way, checking other parts of my beat.  I seem to recall that when colder temperatures arrive, the shorter peep has the urge (maybe it's a coping strategy?) to rearrange and redecorate and in general to bring chaos to our domicile.  You know what I think of that.

14 Nov 2025 - "Take a seat"... I might as well be comfortable while waiting for the shorter peep to prepare our breakfast.  Sometimes Mr. Sol graces this spot with his radiance, but not at this hour of the day.  The floor below me is chilly without his help, but I have a chance of warming this chosen spot.  So I tuck my paws beneath me and hunker down until my laden saucer appears.  Once I have eaten my fill, I will tackle the pressing issue of interlopers... because they also would like to be fed and out of the weather.

sooner or later

Me-usings and Me-emories

13 Nov 2025 - I am the first one up in our domicile, sometimes having to return to bed to wait for the shorter peep to stir.  But when she does, I don't rush to our breakfast spot, but bide my time until we both are ready.  Here, in plain view, I watch her progress (and her passing feet).  I don't respond well to being rushed, and neither does she... so I try to appear nonchalant, cultivating an air of "whenever".  I know that we both are hungry first thing in the morning, so to fret about when is unproductive:  eventually we will get the day started, together.

what's the natter?

Shamus on view

Me-usings and Me-emories

12 Nov 2025 - I can't voice brrr... it just comes out as a purr, which is not the sentiment I wish to express.  As you can see, Mr. Sol is with us, but he needs to up his game.  I am dividing my time between shifting pools of warmth and a heated towel that the shorter peep offers when she sees my suffering.  I completely reject the notion that bad times make one stronger... I can only see misery shortening my life span.  Is it any wonder why I grouse?

the perks of my trade

Shamus on view

Me-usings and Me-emories

11 Nov 2025 - In my work as office manager and domicile guard, I like to go behind the scenes, unnoticed but effectively assessing what needs to get done.  The reality isn't glamorous...in fact grooming afterwards is often necessary to remove the encountered lint and cobwebs.  However there is a certain excitement in poking around shadowy corners:  whatever is waiting to be surprised?  That the answer is unknown keeps me on the alert:  it may only be a lost paper clip (but what fun to bat it around).
