when the going gets rough....

13 August 2016 - Pebbles, rocks, boulders - no scissors or paper in this view.  Size isn't the only differentiation; there is a wide palette of muted colors that hint at their origins.  And where did they come from?  That is a complicated question, when asked in an area scraped and gouged by glaciers.  Out of context rocks can be a real annoyance, prompting you to shake out your shoe or to replace your windshield.  But in their element, they provide a scramble, a challenge, a conveyance to the great outdoors.
