Me-usings and Me-emories

24 July 2017 - One thing that hasn't changed with our move to the hinterland is the predominance of forest.  Some specimens are familiar to me, like oaks and maples; others are total strangers (but I know better than to gnaw the hemlock).  The trees are inside as well, comprising walls and ceilings and floors and cabinets and furniture.  Their amber and beige shades warm the eye, and the discerning nose can detect the presence of wood.  Down at my level one can find evidence of a dim deep that resided here years ago:  its claw marks mar a few floorboards.  I know better.
