Shamus on view

Me-usings and Me-emories

10 September 2020 - I fear the shorter peep has blown my cover... not that it is easy to camouflage a tuxedo.  This concealed spot has many things in its favor:  elevation over our northern flank, an obscuring screen, a tucked-away entry point.  When it is not pouring buckets (I'm not paid enough), there is much wildlife to observe.  Most of the fauna, I am gladdened to report, is content to remain on the outside, free to come and go.  But there is the occasional dissatisfied example (and I will make an example of this interloper) that wishes to improve its lot, to wheedle its way into our lives.  To quote another tuxedo companion, alas now dead:  "Thriftless ambition, that wilt ravin up thine own life's means."
