Me-usings and Me-emories
10 October - The shorter peep claims that this is my back foot, but isolated from my body it hardly is recognizable. Sometimes I scratch my head when trying to fathom peeps: you will have to ask her "why?" she bothered with this picture. However it does give me an opportunity to talk about my fur: did you realize that we cats have three different sorts of hair? What you would easily identify as our coat is composed of guard hairs, the longer ones on top that provide insulation and to some extent water-proofing. Next to the body are our down hairs, sometimes referred to as the undercoat. Down hairs are short and soft and warm (and a large percentage of what we shed). But any distinctive fur pattern we may have is due to the awn hairs, which lie between the guard and down layers. And mine are not "into" symmetry.
